Is your lead pipe leaking in your home?

Lead pipes can distort and leak after years of use. Water regulations limit how you can repair lead pipe work which you can read in the link.

In the plumbing profession a “Lead Lock” is used. This device clamps onto and seals around the lead pipe work enabling you to connect copper or plastic to the other end of the fitting.

The lead locks come in various sizes. It is crucial to fit the correct one to avoid further leaks.

In the picture I have also replaced the traditional stop cock with a full-bore lever valve. This helps with maximizing the water flow and has an easy to use lever to shut of the water supply when needed.

In an ideal world you would replace all the lead pipe, but this is not always easy to do and can be quite costly, so a repair is often a more suitible option for the customer.
